FOOD REVOLUTION

“Food is the most important material in the world”- Marije Vogelzang, Dutch designer

But with today’s cultivation and production methods and the rapidly growing world population, this precious material will be a scarce commodity in the future. Time to rethink!
Many aspects of today’s food production are also more than problematic: Whether environmental pollution through waste and long transport routes, food waste or factory farming – mankind is trampling on the foundations of its existence. Today’s production and consumption patterns are also often harmful to their own health. Synthetic biology offers the chance to solve the entire problems of food production and revolutionizes not only our eating and cooking habits but also the entire food industry.
In the future, living beings that are specially tailored to human needs, programmed and designed in a completely new way will produce our food – in an environmentally friendly, space-saving way and without animal suffering or death.
The living plant as well as animal food factories offer an inexhaustible and varied range of food – directly from our own kitchens: thanks to their special genetic characteristics, they simply allow the parts harvested by the consumer to grow again and again.
New types of plants floating on the surface of the water thus continuously produce healthy, tasty fruit and vegetables with exciting new tastes and consistencies. Not only do they provide all the essential vitamins, they are also designed so that their particularly valuable combinations of nutrients can be perfectly absorbed and utilized by the human body – for a healthy and long life. Pieces of the plants can be easily picked as required, the harvested parts grow back quickly and offer a constantly fresh food supply.

In addition, Food Revolution also offers tasty treats for your housemates of a special kind: experts recommend the consumption of extremely healthy insects as an alternative to meat, and insects that are particularly ecological in breeding. In order to take away the culturally determined disgust of Europeans, no longer the whole insect with legs and head is eaten, but only aesthetically pleasing and delicious tasting body parts that the animal produces especially for its owner.
Just as a lizard is able to shed its tail and let it grow back in case of danger, the future small food factories will produce body parts that can be simply “harvested” or rejected by themselves – without having to suffer and die for human consumption.
In independent and symbiotic kitchen biotopes the animals and plants care for and nurture each other. Milk and cereal dough are produced by microorganisms, both can be combined with plant and animal products in so-called “food processors” to form the most delicious dishes are processed – whether they are frothy, creamy, airy whipped, crispy, hot or cold, liquid or crispy – the “Food Processors” expand today’s range of foods many times over in 2084.
