El Salvador … the first country to introduce Bit Coins as official currency, marked by poverty and one of the supposedly most dangerous countries in the world. Bit Coins are very important for criminal interaction and money laundering. It can be paid quickly and anonymously. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) warns of significant risks to financial stability, e.g. high price fluctuations of the cryptocurrency. Among other things, the new currency is officially supposed to enable greater financial participation for the population, which has no direct access to traditional banking services. To what extent this population has access to a Bit Coin-capable terminal or technical understanding is questionable. The IMF also warns that financial integrity and consumer protection will be compromised. Initial field reports show, among other things, that often old, poor and less modern people are overwhelmed….
