I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S NOT WOOL

it’s a stool

This stool is the result of various experiments with textiles and bioplastics. The blue strands consist of 30 percent linen and 75 percent cotton, the orange ones of 100 percent cotton. In the first step, the yarns are cut to the same size. They are then soaked in bioplastics consisting of vinegar, glycerine, water and food colouring. A mould is used for the production, a kind of framework around which the yarn strands are braided. The braid provides stability and sufficient strength. With the help of my oven the stool needed about 2 days to dry completely. Afterwards the framework could be taken out.
What I would like to change is the color. I would like to try out even stronger colour combinations. There are also many other possibilities to include other braiding patterns and materials.
