Gestaltung experimenteller Instrumente und Tonerzeuger
Entwurf Komplexes Gestalten, Studiengang Industriedesign, Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle, Wintersemester 2019/20
satz 2 – push the button: interaktion und schaltkreise
input:
– exkursion
– individuelle recherchethemen
– einführung ins tonstudio
– hands-on-workshops zu jedem der drei sätze
– feedback und echo durch gastkritiker
output:
– klangstudien und experimentelle instrumente
– dokumentation in print, film und ton
– in der gruppe inszeniertes abschlusskonzert als präsentation

Unheard sounds (make tangible) …
Design of experimental instruments and sound generators
Industrial Design, Burg Giebichenstein University of Art Halle, winter term 2019/20
in this project we go in search of new sound generators, new instruments, new interactions and ways of playing – experimenting with sounds, tones and noises; materials, waves and resonances; rhythms and movements.
In the prelude (excursion) we visit sound artists and sound installations, noise makers and sound temples.
sentence 1 – everyone can be an instrument: resonance and vibration
the sound of things and materials, basics of sound production … blowing, stroking, plucking, beating … workshop for the construction of experimental acoustic instruments
sentence 2 – push the button: interaction and circuits
workshop to explore electro-acoustic sound generators and interactive sound spaces (integrated arduino)
sentence 3 – in concerto: performance and installation
workshop for the staging and common performance of a concert-based presentation of the various instruments, live-performance, choreography and sound installation
input:
– excursion
– individual research topics
– introduction to the recording studio
– hands-on workshops on each of the three sentences
– feedback and echo by guest critics
output:
– sound studies and experimental instruments
– documentation in print, film and sound
– final concert staged as a group as a presentation
